Welcome to the Darlington Embroiderers’ Guild Branch

Darlington Embroiderers’ Guild is one of the twelve branches which make up the North East Region of the Embroiderers’ Guild.

Our membership is usually in the 60s each year but monthly meetings tend to attract about 40 members who are a variety of ages.

We meet on the first Saturday of each month (except August) at Elm Ridge Methodist Church Hall, Darlington at 2pm.

In the morning, starting at 10am we have a workshop, usually led by a branch member. This is also open for those who wish to just come and stitch to work on their own pieces as a social gathering. Bring a packed lunch. For those who haven't attended the morning workshop, tea and coffee is available from about 1.30pm. At 2pm we have a short branch meeting followed by a speaker talking on subjects of interest to our members. As well as talks on embroidery, we have a varied programme which inspires our members.

In addition to these talks, we arrange 4 day workshops per year, which usually takes place at Elm Ridge Methodist Parish Hall throughout the year.

Our programme is varied and is for both experienced embroiderers' and beginners. As well as embroidery and stitch techniques, topics for talks include other forms of textile art and also forms of art which use textile as an inspiration.

We hope we come across as a friendly group and invite visitors to come along for an afternoon to share in our interest in and love of embroidery before making up their minds whether to join. As a non-member you may visit twice at a cost of £4, unless you have a leaflet with our special free entry offer - one per person, or contact us via the website to try before you buy. After that you will need to join. All workshops are for members only.
